Abstract: Subaru Telescope has been operating the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) instrument since 2014. This wide-field camera produces between 300GB and 1.2TB of data per night, depending on the science program. Subaru needed to make some large adjustments in both software for managing data flows and techniques for managing the data storage to handle the huge increases in data size and storage requirements compared to earlier instruments. We present our experience with managing the storage pool using HSC, the techniques for minimizing problems associated with potential storage failures and describe the software for managing data flows within the observatory and managing the storage pool itself.
