Abstract: |
The design for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Data Management System (DMS)
Associations processing has been completed and is presented here. Associations
capture the relationship between exposures and higher level data products.
Associations as intended by a proposal can be contained within a single
observation or extend over multiple observations within a proposal. These
candidate associations are provided by the Proposal Planning System (PPS) to DMS
where they are converted into Association Pools and Association Generator Tables
that serve as inputs to the automated processing which creates the combined data
products. Association Pools are generated to capture a list of exposures that could
potentially form associations and provide relevant information about those exposures.
The Association Generator creates one or more association definitions in Association
Table format from a single input Association Pool. Based on each Association Table
defining a set of exposures to be combined and the type of combination to be performed,
the calibration software creates Associated Data Products, such as mosaics. This
scheme is conducive to eventually produce Associations for observations from multiple
proposals as is done with the Hubble Legacy Archive (HLA). |
