Abstract: The United States Naval Observatory (USNO) produces a variety of public resources for each solar eclipse. In anticipation of the national interest and extensive public outreach efforts, the USNO developed an on-line resource center providing quick access to the digital resources available for the 2017 August 21 and the 2024 April 8 total solar eclipses over the continental United States of America. The enthusiasm generated by the 2017 event has motivated the creation of an additional resource page for the 2023 October 14 annular solar eclipse. In addition, the USNO provided an application programming interface (API) for its “Solar Eclipse Computer” (SEC) data service, which returns local circumstances for any solar eclipse in JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). Users can incorporate the results of such queries in their own websites or applications. The Solar Eclipse 2017 Android application demonstrated what could be done with this flexible interface. In total, the SEC computed over 5 million sets of local eclipse circumstances during 2017. Other USNO products that eclipse enthusiasts may find helpful are the USNO Eclipse Portal, Multiyear Interactive Computer Almanac (MICA), solar eclipse visibility maps, “Eclipse Reference List,” and sections of The Astronomical Almanac Online! We are planning ahead for the 2024 April 8 total solar eclipse with eagerness, both for the pleasure of sharing our knowledge with the public and for the splendor of the event itself.
