Abstract: |
The COVID-19 pandemic caused colleges and universities in the US
to move classes online all of a sudden in March 2020. Since then,
some institutions have provided their instructors with training to
teach online, but may not have been able to provide the usual level
of training because they are limited in their ability to train
instructors while operating remotely. On the other hand, as the
pandemic persists, students who are continuing their education
online expect high quality online teaching. In this article, I list
some tips for creating and delivering successful online classes,
especially introductory astronomy classes. These tips are based on
my experience with teaching introductory astronomy lecture courses
online, before and during the pandemic and could help instructors
develop effective online classes. |
