Abstract: We have studied the V-band variability on long and short timescales in 6 Narrow-Line Seyfert 1s (NLS1s): Ark 564, Mrk 335, Mrk 359, Mrk 478, Mrk 493, and NGC 4051. We searched for intra-night flux changes on 33 of 186 nights. Little evidence for any variability was found on an intra-night timescale, while small-amplitude variability (rms amplitudes of 0.22 to 0.71 mag) was found on timescales of days to months or years. Thus, despite the extreme X-ray variability of NLS1s, there is no extreme optical variability. There is no clear evidence that the optical variability of NLS1s is different from that of non-NLS1s, although the lack of an adequate control sample makes it difficult to quantitatively compare the optical variability of the two classes.
