Abstract: |
With the end of Flash support in web browsers, a generation of Astronomy Education simulations are becoming unusable. Fortunately, there is a new generation of HTML5 Astro-Education simulations that work on modern browsers, phones, and tablets.
In this talk, I present an overview of the extant HTML5 Astro-Education simulations on the web and highlight a few examples, including re-implementations of past Java and Flash simulations and use cases such as:
- qualitative exploration of relationships between variables,
- data collection in simulated lab experiences, and
- analysis of collected or archival data.
I will also briefly outline the resources needed to contribute to the development of new simulations, and highlight gaps in the existing body of simulations. |
