Abstract: A large, nearly complete, magnitude-limited, spectroscopically- identified sample of hot white dwarf stars presented in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 4 White Dwarf Catalog (Eisenstein et al. 2006) allowed us to construct the hot end of a SDSS white dwarf luminosity function (LF). The LF covers an approximate temperature range of 23,000 K to 100,000 K and is based on the distances and absolute bolometric magnitudes determined from stellar models. The sample is dominated by DA type white dwarfs, but it also contains DB, DAO, DO and PG 1159 type stars. We present our new LF, compare it to previous work (Harris et al. 2006), and comment on sample completeness.
