Abstract: We present a brief summary of a detailed optical, radio and infrared study of the young radio source PKS 1549–79 in which the obscured black hole is growing rapidly. We detect a fast outflow in the emission-line gas, although currently these are less powerful than required by galaxy evolution models that incorporate AGN feedback. PKS 1549–79 is an important source as it links a number of different types of AGN (quasar, radio galaxy, NLS1, ULIRG) and is a rapidly evolving galaxy in the local universe. See Holt et al. (2006) for further details.
