| Abstract: |
The Carte du Ciel project laid the basis of international collaboration in astronomy in the 19th century. Aimed at realizing a complete photographic chart of the heavens and an astrophotographic catalogue, through the collaboration of eighteen astronomical observatories throughout the world, the project however spanned a much longer time than planned and its original purpose was not entirely fulfilled. With this poster I wish to ask my colleagues who hold some Carte du Ciel material in their library, to collaborate with me in order to ascertain what was actually published (both charts and catalogues), since this information is incomplete and sometimes conflicting. |
