Abstract: |
The MAGIC telescope is the foreseen Cerenkov telescope with the lowest energy threshold. Even in the first phase, equipped with standard PMTs, its threshold should go as low as 30 GeV. Due to its lightweight design, the telescope can also be quickly repointed (≤ 20 seconds), becoming an ideal detector for GRB phenomena above the energy threshold. In this report, after a brief overview of the actual telescope status, the effective area of the detector as a function of energy and zenith angle is taken into account, in order to evaluate the expected yearly occurrence and the response to high energy GRBs. |
