Abstract: The Virtual Observatory provides the means to discover, access, and analyze data from myriad distributed archives and databases. Comparisons among diverse data become easy, but understanding and interpreting the results of spatial crossmatches or clusters in some high-dimension parameter space requires a sound statistical basis. Tools for statistical analysis in the VO are now available (e.g., the VOStat frontend to the R package) that operate on data in standard VOTables. Further incorporation of statistical analysis in the VO framework will require web services interfaces and co-location of servers with the largest catalogs and cross-correlation engines.
