Abstract: The use of Lick line indices to infer ages and metallicities from integrated spectra of extragalactic globular clusters is nowadays widely accepted. However, the entire procedure is based on stringent hypotheses on the reference system that both models and data should obey. I will focus here on a new methodology used to determine ages and metallicities from integrated spectra without degrading them to the standard Lick resolution. I will underline the difficulties I found in the age determination related to the use of some (mostly used) age indicators, and I will show how this kind of analysis tries to avoid them. The observational dataset used to test the procedure is a sample of 113 globular clusters observed with VIMOS and belonging to the Sa galaxy M104.
