Abstract: |
The problems involved in using cluster and association Cepheids as distance calibrators are summarized, and an attempt to use the 39-day association Cepheid U Carinae as a long-period Cepheid calibrator is briefly reported. Car OB2 members consisting of three somewhat dissimilar spatial subgroups are identified. Values are given for the spatial extent of the U Car subgroup, and for the space reddening, mean distance modulus, and derived luminosity of U Car. |
