Deep Washington CCD photometry has been obtained with the CTIO 4m telescope of the globular cluster system of the central elliptical galaxy in the Fornax cluster, NGC 1399. The resulting luminosity function apparently reaches beyond the peak in the cluster distribution. Preliminary data indicate a distance modulus of 30.4 + or - 0.3. The metal abundance distribution of some 250 clusters is also derived. |
