Abstract: This paper presents the basic framework for the treatment of theoretical models of radiatively driven winds reported by Pauldrach et al., (1986, 1988, and 1989). After a discussion of the critical assumptions, the present stage of the wind models, which recently have been extended to include atmospheric models, is described. The calculations, which have been applied to Zeta Pup and Alpha Cam, reveal that only the population of trace ions of low and extremely high stages are affected by the incompleteness of the models, while the basic ionization structure and hence the wind dynanics are correct.
