Abstract: Recent non-LTE model calculations for expanding atmospheres are used to analyze quantitatively the spectra of WR stars. Although the stellar temperatures and luminosities obtained are surprisingly low, there is increasing evidence for these results. E.g., it is shown that the light curve of the eclipsing binary V444 Cyg can be reproduced by a model with a cool WR star (T = 40 kK). This solution is not unique, but demonstrates that there is no basic contradiction between the results from spectral analysis and the light curve.
