Paper: Beta Cephei stars - The instability strip and evolutionary state

Abstract: It is pointed out that all Beta Cephei stars discovered since the mid-fifties occupy very nearly the same spectral type range as the variables known to Struve. The position of the Beta Cephei stars in the color-magnitude diagram is then considered, and the history of the problem of evolutionary state of these stars and the recent results of Balona and co-workers are briefly reviewed. Finally, a possible extension of these results is suggested.
