Abstract: Dynamical models of circumstellar-dust shells around Mira and long-period variables are presented. The models utilize a code solving the coupled set of equations of time-dependent hydrodynamics, and the moment equations describing dust formation, growth, and evaporation. Calculations restricted to isothermal shock waves are used to demonstrate the interaction between the dynamics of the pulsating atmosphere and the dust complex. It is shown that pulsation-induced shocks trigger the process of shock formation and growth, while new shocks are created by the acceleration of the matter due to the radiation pressure on dust.
