Abstract: Optical spectra, radio and infrared maps, radio and far infrared flux densities and far infrared colors show that star formation is occurring at a high rate in the central few kiloparsecs of a significant fraction of SO and early-type spiral galaxies. Star-formation-powered radio sources have been found up to a power level of 5 x 10 exp 22/WHz at 2380 MHz (for H0 = 50 km/s Mpc) in a magnitude-limited sample of SO and Sa galaxies.
