Abstract: An analytic theory of the bolometric light curve for SN 1987A has agreed with observation to within 20 percent from days 17 to 835. Neutron detection data confirm the core-convergence concept in which thermal neutrino emission during the last stages of stellar evolution is the driver. Mixing of the ejected material is suggested by observations, in keeping with calculations of the hydrodynamics of the explosion. Further comparisons of observations of this supernova with theoretical predictions of composition, velocity and position will become possible as the object expands and instrumental resolution improves.
