| Abstract: |
Results of a wide field (approximately 2000 sq deg) multicolor photographic survey for bright high redshift (z greater than 4) quasars are presented. No decline in the space density of these luminous high redshift quasars compared to z = 2 quasars is apparent. Preliminary analysis of the emission line properties of this new sample of 20 quasars reveal a much wider dispersion in observed line strengths and profiles than is apparent in the sample of z greater than 4 quasars found by Schneider, Schmidt and Gunn. Some implications of these sample differences are discussed. |
