Abstract: The spherical aberration of the primary mirror of the Hubble Space Telescope has seriously degraded the resolution of images and spectra from the instruments onboard the satellite. However, computer restoration techniques make it possible to restore some of the lost spatial and spectral resolution. This paper describes various aspects of the Hubble image restoration problem, shows results for some real data, and discusses outstanding problems.
