| Abstract: |
A trainable classifier approach to cosmic ray hit detection on Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Wide Field and Planetary Camera (WF/PC) images is described. The method is applicable to the general problem of object recognition. We describe the implementation carried out, and the structure of the software which is now publicly available. We show experimental results, illustrating that the system can be trained to replicate human visual judgement. Finally, we discuss some future research directions. |
