Abstract: |
I briefly review the history of VLBI. I start with a review of the lines of evidence that lead to the belief that very long baseline interferometry was a desireable and necessary devlopment of instrumentation. I then briefly mention the first efforts to construct VLBI instruments. I finally look back over the past thirty years and call out several themes that have devleoped over the years. |
