Paper: Spectral Characteristics of Circumstellar Envelopes Along the Giant Branches - A Clue to Pulsational Evolution?
Volume: 135, A Half Century of Stellar Pulsation Interpretations: a Tribute to Arthur N. Cox

Abstract: Spectral characteristics of circumstellar envelopes and their time variations do not only trace physical processes in these envelopes, but could also be used to examine the pulsational behaviour of evolved stars with mass-loss. Latest spectroscopic results from the Infrared Space Observatory of a sample covering the evolutionary track of giants and supergiants will be presented and discussed in the framework of models for pulsating stars and earlier observational studies.
