Abstract: |
Through coordinated observational campaigns organised by our group and carried on with other observatories, we have monitored many of the known gamma Dor candidates. The technique used, i.e. multicolour photometry and simultaneous HR spectroscopy to detect line profile variations, was adopted as the most suitable to obtain a complete insight in the pulsational behaviour of these stars. The results confirmed that gamma Dors are pulsating variables similar at some extent to delta Scuti stars, but they also pointed out some features peculiar of the class. Phase and amplitude relations between light, colour and moments curves as well as amplitude modulation and phase/frequency instability mark some difference with known similar low instability strip pulsators. Very likely such features contain encoded information on the physics of these variables. The aim of the contribution is to point the existent correlation between observed objects, to describe the common chracteristics and the difference with other known class and to present how they directly constrain pulsation models. |
