Abstract: In October 1992 we investigated a number of Blazars at three radio-frequencies with the VLA and in the optical R-band to search for short-timescale variations. In the peculiar BL Lac object 0235+164 such variability was found. At least one single event can be identified clearly throughout all three radio frequencies. However, the properties of this event are very difficult to explain with the standard models of blazar variability. This holds for the time sequence of the flux density maxima at the respective observing frequencies, and the amplitude and the duration of the outburst as a function of frequency. Here we describe the lightcurve analysis and present possible models for the explanation.
