| Abstract: |
The various types of subphotospheric instabilities discussed in connection with massive stars are reviewed. Their relevance for stellar structure and evolution and for an explanation of observed outbursts and variability in these objects is commented on. Some results concerning the final consequences of strange - mode instabilities are presented. |
