| Abstract: |
We show that the bright-line S abundance parameter S23 is sensitive to the nebular ionization parameter because it does not sample the S+3 population. Therefore, we suggest a parameter S234, and show that the intensity of [SIV] 10.5 μm is easily estimated from those of the optical/NIR lines of [OII], [OIII], and [SIII] for Z<0.5 Zsolar. We caution that calibrations of S23 and S234 thus far are reliable only in this regime. |
