Abstract: |
The Delta Scuti Network organizes multisite photometric campaigns with 1000+ hr at a large number of observatories in order to extract the multitude of simultaneously excited pulsation frequencies and to identify the individual pulsation modes. The paper discusses a number of aspects and problems connected with these observational campaigns: -- How extensive must a campaign be to detect 50+ frequencies? -- How many months or years must a campaign cover to obtain the required frequency resolution? -- What are the problems when you use photomultiplier and CCD detectors during the same campaign? -- Do we really obtain the benefit of the high CCD duty cycles or are there problems with correlated errors? -- How does one distinguish between intrinsic and noise peaks in the power spectrum and how reliable has the adopted statistical scheme been in hindsight? |
