Abstract: |
We develop a perturbative approach to microlensing due to an extrasolar planetary lens. For a weak lensing case, we show how the maximum angular size and the typical time scale of the anomalous shift of the light centroid are dependent on the mass ratio and angular separation between the star and the planet. Furthermore, it is shown that the lens equation for a binary gravitational lens being a set of two coupled real fifth-order algebraic equations can be reduced to a single real fifth-order algebraic equation, which provides a much simpler way to study lensing by binary objects. |
