Abstract: A few X-ray obscured AGN have changed their appearance from Compton-thick, i.e. reflection-dominated, to Compton-thin (or viceversa) on time scales of a few years. A recent example is UGC4203, clearly a Compton-thin source during the XMM-Newton observation but reflection-dominated a few years earlier, when observed by ASCA. Here, besides presenting the most recent observational results, we discuss possible interpretations of this effect, and the implications for the Unification Model of Seyfert galaxies.
