Abstract: This spring the Chandra X-ray Observatory concluded its megasecond observation of the Cassiopeia A supernova remnant using its Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer (ACIS). From the more than 300 million X-ray events on the ACIS-7 CCD, we created high resolution spatial maps of line emission, Doppler velocities, and temperatures. Although the creation of the maps required extracting more than nine million spectra and performing several hundred thousand spectral fits, we were able to complete the entire mapping process in a matter of days. This task was facilitated by the rapid scripting afforded by the S-Lang interpreter as embedded in the Interactive Spectral Interpretation System (ISIS).
