Abstract: |
The linear scattering polarization of the Ca II K line is a very sensitive tool to determine the temperature profile in the high photosphere and low chromosphere. We present the spatial variation at several heliocentric angles and different wavelengths. Observations of a plage region show a surprising decrease of scattering polarization not expected from standard model calculations. Colder parts in the plage region could serve as a possible explanation. |
