Abstract: |
The XMM-Newton Survey Science Centre (SSC) is currently reprocessing all XMM-Newton data from launch (nearly 6 years ago) using the latest software and calibration information. Our aim is not only to produce improved data products for the XMM Science Archive but also to make a new catalogue of serendipitous sources. The 2XMM catalogue is expected to be the largest list of X-ray sources to date. The production platform has switched from Sparc/Solaris to x86/Linux, and catalogue data handling will involve both FITS and DBMS tables. Instead of using O2 (an obsolescent object-oriented DBMS) we are making extensive use of Postgres. |
