| Abstract: |
The VLT Data Flow System (DFS) is a distributed system which provides all of the components needed to support VLT science operations from start to finish. The unprecedented variety of instruments at the VLT requires careful system-level design to encapsulate the details of dealing with each one, so that the core DFS applications can operate in as generic a way as possible. This paper presents the Organisation, Classification and Association (OCA) framework, which plays a fundamental role in achieving generic data organisation in subsystems like pipelines or the archive. |
