Abstract: |
The Chandra Interactive Analysis of Observations (CIAO) software system provides a large number of programs and libraries for analyzing N-dimensional data sets. The software can be used on both the command line and from GUIs and encompasses a broad range of capabilities, from small, simple, programs up to long-running interactive environments. On-line help for all the software components is provided by the ASCHelp library and ahelp command-line tool, with the help text itself stored using XML. The flexibility of the system allows the CIAO tools to provide context-sensitive information and powerful search queries. The use of XML as a file format makes it easy to convert the documentation to HTML, so that it can be added to the CIAO web site, and to extract useful meta data for the Content Management System we use to maintain and update the web site. |
