Abstract: |
The Antarctic Multiband Infrared Camera (AMICA) is a dual detector instrument for imaging between the K and Q bands of the infrared spectrum. It will be mounted on one of the two Nasmyth foci of the IRAIT telescope and installed at Dome-C, widely considered one of the best terrestrial sites for infrared observations. Due to extreme climate conditions, automated operations and hardware strength are fundamental requirements. We present the status of the project development, focusing on software solutions for the camera robotic control system and data acquisition. Moreover a preliminary description of camera expected performances is shown, through a virtual observation simulator, taking into account all instrument, telescope and site characteristics. |
