ESO Science Archive Facility (SAF) – one of the world's biggest
astronomical archives – combines two roles: operational (ingest,
tallying, safekeeping and distribution to observers of raw data
taken with ESO telescopes and processed data generated both
internally and externally) and scientific (publication and delivery
of all flavours of data to external users).
This paper presents the “State of the SAF.” SAF, as a living
entity, is constantly implementing new services and upgrading the
existing ones. We present recent and future developments related to
the Archive's Request Handler and metadata handling as well as
performance and usage statistics and trends. We also discuss the
current and future datasets on offer at SAF. |
