Abstract: |
One can place stringent constraints on models for the formation and
evolution of galaxies by studying their stellar mass function and clustering
as a function of lookback time.
To do so, one requires surveys of sufficiently large volume and depth,
which also contain representative samples of galaxies.
One such state of the art survey is the Galaxy and Mass Assembly (GAMA) survey.
We present results on the evolution of the stellar mass function and
mass-selected correlation functions from GAMA,
and look forward to the improvements that can be expected with future
large spectroscopic surveys, in particular the WAVES survey using 4MOST. |
