On August 21, 2017, Utah Valley University welcomed 35,000 students back to campus for the beginning of the fall semester. Hundreds of students accompanied faculty members on a trip to Riverton, Wyoming to view the solar eclipse from the path of totality. Thousands more observed the partial phase from campus in Orem, Utah. This paper documents some of the lessons learned as we planned for the astronomical event of the decade. |
