Abstract: |
New, deep surveys are uncovering populations of AGN with substantially different spectral energy distributions and polarization properties than have been traditionally cataloged. These differences likely indicate different viewing perspectives and/or nuclear geometries. At the same time, large-aperture telescopes are providing the means for studying in detail the origin of the polarization. Among the new results are several strongly polarized, obscured, broad-line QSOs where spectropolarimetry may reveal structural details on scales smaller than the broad-line region. |
