Abstract: |
We recently discovered a group of peculiar molecular clouds with very high CO J=3–2/J=1–0 intensity ratios (>1.0) on the Galactic east of the Sgr B cloud complex. The group consists of six compact clouds with extraordinary broad velocity widths, namely, high-velocity compact clouds (HVCCs). All clouds in this "HVCC forest" have large negative LSR velocities which are contrary to the Galactic rotation. Despite these peculiar appearances, which imply an energetic origin, these HVCCs do not have any counterparts in other wavelengths. Considering these properties, we suggest that a group of non-luminous stellar remnants, such as neutron stars and black holes, plunged from the Galactic halo and formed the HVCC forest. |
