| Abstract: |
Small-JASMINE is a space mission to provide astrometric data with high precisions (20 micro-arcseconds level) in a near infrared band for stars in the Galactic central regions. The primary scientific objective is to carry out the Galactic Center Archeology and Galactoseismology by exploring the Galactic nuclear bulge and the Galactic plane, which lead to the elucidation of the formation histories of the Galaxy and the supermassive black hole at the center, and the Galactic Habitable Orbits which are necessary for life to be created and maintained. Furthermore, we plan to observe other specific astronomical objects such as the transit observations to search for Earth-type planets in the habitable zone around M-type stars. Small-JASMINE was selected in May 2019 as the unique candidate for the competitive 3rd Medium-class science satellite mission by ISAS/JAXA. The launch date is mid-2020s. |
