Abstract: We examined the X-ray spectra of a pulsating ultraluminous X-ray source (ULX) and a high mass X-ray binary (HMXB) pulsar, especially when the sources were observed to shine close to or above their Eddington limit. We compared the fitting models for the HMXB pulsar and that of pulsating ULX to study the conditions that prohibit the HMXB pulsar from reaching the luminosity of pulsating ULX. We found that the production of high energy photons in the HMXB pulsar above the Eddington luminosity is higher than that of the pulsating ULX while maintaining strong iron line emissions at 6-7 kev. On the other hand, iron line emission is absent, and the thermal component remains prominent in the pulsating ULX spectra above the Eddington limit. We suspect that the accretion disk in the pulsating ULX extends closer to the neutron star surface due to the high mass accretion rate, and the thick outflow prevents the iron line emission feature from reaching the observer.
