Abstract: We have carried out a systematic search for radio-loud narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies, and a study of their multiwavelength properties. We find that 7% of the NLS1 galaxies of our sample are radio-loud. This shows that NLS1 galaxies as a class are not completely radio-quiet, but they are less likely to be radio-loud than broad-line AGN. The distinction becomes even more obvious at large radio indices R. Only ~2.5% of the NLS1s are “very” radio loud (R > 100). This indicates that the mechanism that leads to a strongly enhanced ratio of radio/optical emission in a fraction of broad-line AGN is suppressed in NLS1 galaxies. The radio data are supplemented by multiwavelength data, and implications for NLS1 models are discussed.
