Abstract: The surface distributions of carbon stars in IC1613 and in the Sagittarius Dwarf Irregular have been mapped. These asymptotic giant branch stars trace an intermediate age population which is present in both of these galaxies. The distance to each of these galaxies estimated from the luminosity distribution of the carbon stars is consistent with the distance estimated from the luminosity of the tip of the first giant branch.
