Abstract: |
Disk integration of solar intensity profiles suggests that rotation enhances intermediate strength line asymmetries up to v sin i of about 6 km/s, after which the slope of the line bisector remains constant. Observed stellar line profiles do not show such a simple relation. Fast rotators exhibit large variations, owing presumably to stellar activity. Caution is advised with respect to the use of slow rotating or inactive star line profiles to determine the broadening of faster rotators. |
