Abstract: The use of low-dispersion IUE spectra is investigated to deduce properties of chromospheres in Zeta-Aur binaries. This approach, obviously, has the advantage of allowing the study of stars somewhat fainter than the classical systems. As expected, the column density of absorbers along the line of sight can be determined rather well, from the shape and extent of line extinction. The turbulent velocity of the gas can be found by comparing the strength of Fe II features with Ly-Alpha. In addition, it may be possible in some cases to determine a crude excitation temperature, although the effects of temperature on low-dispersion IUE spectra are generally quite subtle.
