Abstract: The nucleus of the starburst spiral NGC253 has been mapped in the v = 0,J = 2-1 line of SiO, a privileged tracer of shock chemistry, using the IRAM interferometer. Our map, that includes simultaneous observations of H13CO+, shows that SiO comes from a 600pc circumnuclear disk (CND) displaying a rich hierarchy of substructures and a distorted kinematics. The chemical history of the starburst is analysed studying the ratio R = N(SiO) / N(H13CO+), strongly variable within the CND. The processing of gas by large-scale shocks is discussed.
